of the Knifemakers' Guild, hailing from Nicholasville, Kentucky, and has been
written up many times in knife magazines. He has been making knives since 1979.

James "Hoot" Gibson
Congratulations on your selection of a "Hoot" custom knife. James "Hoot" Gibson
is retired from Continental Can Company where he had the opportunity to work
with metals in their machine shop and lives in Dead Lake, Florida. "Hoot" became
a member of the Knifemakers' Guild in 1990 and began making his knives for show
and sale. He is proud that you are considering one of his creation.
Ken Richardson
Ken Richardson is a retired professional horseshoers and blacksmiths living in
Davisville, MO. He began making knives out of old saws for friends who were
trappers, hunters, and fishermen, as in the Ozarks these are year-round
activities. It was never anticipated that these knives would become so popular.
Now it is a full time job for the entire Richardson family. The old saws have
became hard to find, so, Ken sent samples of the best of the old saws to several
steel mills to be analyzed. Eventually, the exact metal was obtained, which is
carbon 1085 Blue Tempered Spring Steel. The spring steel has all the qualities
of the old saws: it is springy, will not chip, and is easy to sharpen yet holds
a very keen edge. The handles are usually made of shed whitetail, mule deer, elk
horn or cocobolo. I have watched these knives being made and every operation is
done freehand without the use of jigs or patterns so every knife is completely
handmade. This handcrafted knife will satisfy you in every way, every day. This
is Ken's families GUARANTEE.
Frank McGowan

He is from Sykesville, Maryland where he spends most of his time since 1986
